After I received my mother’s diagnosis in 2008, it hit me very hard and I didn’t really know what to do. I was having so many thoughts and I just didn’t know who to turn to. I had so many questions going through my head and I really didn’t know who to trust. I could see that my stress level was increasing as I was the primary caregiver to my mom who had recently been diagnosed with early onset Dementia. Finding the best Dallas Alzheimer’s Support Group was vital for me.
Going through the “journey” of being a caregiver to an Alzheimer’s family member is very difficult in many ways. Throughout this journey, it has affected my emotions and my sleeping patterns. I mention the following statement to every person that I talk with when needing to find a Dallas Dementia Assisted Living Facility: “until you’ve been the primary caregiver to your immediate mother or father, then the average person doesn’t understand how hard it truly is.” I was able to find a group of other caregivers who are caring for family members affected by Dementia in the DFW area. I had to try several groups to find the right fit, but once I found the right fit, then I was able to build a bond and trust with other people who were going through the same thing that I was.
