How to Help Your Loved One with Alzheimer’s
When people are first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they likely don’t need full-time care. In these early stages, they need more of a care partner than a caregiver. Here are some things you can do to support your loved one newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s:
- Talk to them about their diagnosis, and help them find information they need.
- Come up with a plan for when their memory worsens, such as cues and systems that can be used.
- Help with household tasks and meals.
- Provide emotional support by being available and accompanying them appointments or support groups.
- Establish a routine for doing daily tasks, such as taking medication.
How to Find Dallas Alzheimer Facilities
Of course one of the most important things you can do for your loved one who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s is to plan for their long-term care. This isn’t easy, and can be very stressful for everyone involved. You can save yourself some stress, and therefore be more available for your loved one, if you get some help. In 2008, I was faced with the issue of finding specialized care for my mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. With so many Alzheimer’s facilities in the Dallas area, it took a lot of research and investigation of my own to find the right place. That experience inspired me to create a FREE service to help other families just like I helped Vincent, below. Contact me today to get your free guide.
I knew that when I had come across your story, that you were a very special person. You were so supportive in our search in finding the appropriate fit, but what we respected most is that you didn’t put any pressure on us to utilize your service. You weren’t pushy, but you were always receptive to answering any questions that we had. I thought that it would be impossible to find a facility for my Aunt, but she seems to be settling into Silverado Senior Living Plano quite well. Thank you so much for helping us out every step of the way.
