Research into effective treatment for Alzheimer’s is changing the level of Alzheimer’s care every day. Facilities that focus specifically on Alzheimer’s care, such as those in the Dallas and Grapevine area, follow the latest studies carefully in order to offer the best care to their patients.
An interesting piece of research out of Ohio State University studied the effects of equine therapy on Alzheimer’s care. While Alzheimer’s disease is most commonly associated with memory loss, it is often accompanied by personality changes, like irritability and withdrawal. The study found that spending time with horses could provide much needed relief to dementia sufferers, helping them both physically and mentally. Other animals also have been shown to help Alzheimer’s patients.
Since there’s no cure for Alzheimer’s, researchers say the focus for patient care needs to be on making life easier for both patients and their families. Alzheimer’s care centers keep patients occupied with light exercises, crafts, and other activities. As research into pet therapy continues, more Alzheimer’s care facilities will adopt those types of programs.
Grapevine Area Alzheimer’s Care Facilities
While the latest treatments may not help everyone, being at the right Alzheimer’s care facility can make a big difference in your loved one’s quality of life. Here in the Grapevine area, you have many options for Alzheimer’s care. I know how overwhelming that can feel. In 2008, I was faced with the issue of finding specialized care for my mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. With so many Alzheimer’s care and assisted living facilities in our area, it took a lot of research and investigation of my own to find the right place. That experience inspired me to create a FREE service to help other families. Contact me today to get your free guide.
