How to Help Your Loved One with Alzheimer’s
When people are first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they likely don’t need full-time care. In these early stages, they need more of a care partner than a caregiver. Here are some things you can do to support your loved one newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s:
- Talk to them about their diagnosis, and help them find information they need.
- Come up with a plan for when their memory worsens, such as cues and systems that can be used.
- Help with household tasks and meals.
- Provide emotional support by being available and accompanying them appointments or support groups.
